American comedian Jerry Seinfeld once described it as the British flag on a starry night. Now might be the time to rethink Australia's national flag.

ANU military historian Dr John Blaxland says that Australia's flag needs to be updated to be more inclusive and representative of the country's history and people.

In this video, he explains his proposal for a new national flag and why we need to change the existing one.
