The Strategic and Defence Studies Centre welcomed renowned expert on World War I, Professor Gary Sheffield to give a talk on the causes of the conflict which began a century ago this year. Challenging the current historical consensus, Professor Sheffield lays the blame for the outbreak of the war principally on Berlin and Vienna.
