SDSC Scholars Offer Insight and Analysis on the 2016 Defence White Paper

With the launch of the new and heavily anticipated 2016 Defence White Paper on Thursday 25 February, Australia has joined the Asia-Pacific arms race –- allocating up to $19 billion for weaponry and military forces. But the paper also reveals a lot more about Australia’s future role in an increasingly uncertain and contested strategic environment.

Here, experts from Australia’s leading university-based think tank, the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, offer their key insight and analysis of the Defence White Paper from a range of perspectives. This collection of articles features commentary on the ideas, arguments and significance of the new Paper and its implications for Australia’s security in the 21st century.
