Date & time
Global War Studies and the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre are pleased to announce an international conference on the Asia-Pacific War, 1931-1945 to be held at the Australian National University 9-11 July 2015.
Included under this overarching theme is the Pacific War, 1941-45; the China-Burma-India Theater; Great Britain's War in the Far East; the Sino-Japanese War, 1931-45; and the Soviet-Japanese Engagement of 1945.
This conflict, so often relegated to a secondary status when scholars discuss the origins and results of the Second World War, is critically important today in light of recent developments in East Asia and the Western Pacific region and deserves serious study and consideration. This conference aims to bring together scholars working in the fields of military, political, cultural, diplomatic, international, colonial, transnational, and comparative history, and encourages inter-disciplinary contributions.
The conference proceedings will be published as a special issue of Global War Studies, and may include an edited volume (book) as well. Submissions for the proceedings should be received by 15 October 2015.
