YANG Fang is a PhD candidate with the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University (ANU). She was awarded an ANU International Student PhD Scholarship in July 2014. Previously, she was Research Associate with the Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore from 2011 to 2014. She was Associate Research Fellow with the Maritime Security Programme at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University from 2009 to 2011 and received a Master of Science in Asian Studies from RSIS in 2009. Fang’s doctoral research investigates the evolution of Chinese maritime law enforcement agencies. Her research interests lie in maritime security, China’s foreign policy and Asia-Pacific security. She has presented and published papers on the East and South China Sea disputes and Asian countries’ interests in the Arctic.
